Biking in the Rain S1 E3
February 20, 2023
What is up people, get ready for a roller coaster rideπSo I'm finally here in Scottsdale, and it's been pretty great so far. The day we arrived was super chill. We just flew in, ate a bunch of good food and called my family. That night, it was not chill at all hahaha. We went on mini exchanges right off the bat with missionaries throughout the mission, and I got put into downtown Phoenix for the night. That was an exciting night. Hahaha. A lot of...interesting stuff happenedπThe next day I got to my area and trainer, who is Elder Grant! He's a great guy and he is teaching me so much. I actually know his cousins, the Orme's! We went to high school together. Also our area is Mountain Shadows so it's right next to the mission home and all that. It's also a biking area so I'm doing lots of that, and I'm loving it, it's super fun. We had to stuff 8 Elders in our apartment for 2 days because of bad weather up in the mountains delaying transfers so that was a partyπDay 2 technically, it started raining decently hard, which is not common for the area at all. We got to bike around in the rain for most of the day, which was kind of a vibe not going to lie. I've played some basketball and all sorts of other stuff in the mornings, too. I feel like I'm going to get fat, we get a lot of kink food dropped off from random people, and I'm eating a lot. But then again, I've never had any issues in that department.π
The work is going pretty good! We had a pretty successful work and worked hard and did our best every day. We had good days, and we had bad days but the week overall was fantastic. We got 18 new people in the last week and put a guy on date for baptism! It doesn't feel like I'm doing a whole lot though, haha. I have already seen so many blessings and miracles, it blows my mind. We've had random food drop offs, like good food. We will say prayers then find people and just so many other crazy things, it's awesome. I can't wait to see what else the mission holds for me!
Spiritual
thought, Psalms 28:7. "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart
trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with
my song will I praise him." Recently it feels like everything is revolving
around your heart. Men will be judged according to the desires of their hearts (D&C 137:9) and this one talks about trusting the Lord with thy heart and loving
the Lord with all thy heart. We need to make sure our heart's true desires are
righteous and align with God's. Only through faith in Christ can we truly change
our heart's nature. So rely on the Lord, pray for the help and strength to
change. Have the faith it will come, and I promise you that it will.
